Next month we are pleased to be welcoming local artist Debbie Osborn to display her work at Gallery Iceni. Here is a little about Debbie and what she does, in her own words:
"I make, exhibit and sell finished pieces of art, paper goods and textiles and am happy to take commissions for bespoke art and design work. I am also a mail artist and I create and exchange mail art with other mail artists across the world. This work can be seen on my Mailmaker blog. I paint a lot on canvas and wood panels, but I enjoy working with re-cycled materials. Recently, for example, I have been painting on found surfaces like wood or discarded material and old frames. I also recycle past works. The more I work, the more satisfied I am at being able to produce something by transforming previously used items into beautiful or interesting pieces of art. When I work I’m aiming for a visual harmony of image, colour, texture and shape. Sometimes searching for the right image, shape or colour to finish a piece of work takes time, but that process for me is relaxing. I love that I can bring people enjoyment through my work and maybe introduce them to something new.I like to think that my studio is an encouraging and exciting place to visit, where you can see me working or view my work in the adjoining gallery. I love to get visitors but if you are coming any distance please call 01328 856700 or 07941 784207 first.I graduated from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with an MA in Fashion, Textiles and Surface Design (2001). I previously graduated from University College Northampton with a BA (Hons) in Fashion & Related Textiles (1999). I sell my work direct from my studio, my Etsy shop, from exhibitions and Fakenham Makers Market, of which I am the co-founder and curator, with my husband Keith."
