Some people just fulfil their job title and others are synonymous with it; for many people growing up in Swaffham over the past 20 years, Sally Palmer is Youthie. It is with great regret, therefore, that Iceni Partnership says goodbye to Sally at the end of June as she embarks on expanding her role in the family financial business with her husband Andy.
Sally was a youth member at the old Youth and Community Centre in Swaffham and volunteered at the Youth Club. Working as a Nursing Auxiliary as a plaster technician in Dereham, Swaffham and King’s Lynn and as an employed youth worker, Sally found herself juggling shifts. Finally as a Ward Clerk at Dereham hospital, Sally knew enjoying working with younger people was a stronger calling. Ten or so years later working for Norfolk County Council as a Youth Worker, Sally saw the knocking down of the old community centre and the erection of the new when she was eventually employed by Iceni Partnership when county funding ended in 2011.
Sally also leaves a lot of herself behind with the legacy of three strong youth evenings and a wealth of knowledge in the form of well trained volunteers and peer mentors.
Feeling it was time for a change, Sally is expanding her once part time role at Andy R. Palmer Wealth Management Ltd specialising in Compliance with all the new challenges that will entail. We all wish her well with her future plans and look forward to bumping into her in Swaffham, greeting her as one of the Iceni Partnership extended family.
