If you've been on the Campingland recently, then you've probably already noticed some changes on the site marked out for the community garden. During the last weekend of June, a small group of local volunteers (including 3 master gardeners and staff from Iceni) began the first stages of work on the garden, led by two lovely RHS workers.
The first task was constructing and filling 3 hexagional gabion planters. The gabions are filled with cobbles kindly donated by Needham Chalks in Castle Acre and the plants were provided by the RHS from their Hyde Hall garden. Once this was complete, a circular bed was marked out for perennial herbs, but unfortunately the ground is just too hard for us to dig this out yet - please do a rain dance for us!
Once the ground is in a better condition we will organise another weekend to continue work, so if you're interested in joining in, then please contact Jonathan at Iceni Partnership on 01760 722800 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
