Judgement day is over and the judges were ‘blooming’ impressed with what Swaffham had to offer. They were taken on a tour of Swaffham by Brenda Bowler from Swaffham Town Council, Don Saunders and Samantha Harrington, both from Iceni Partnership and representative of the Town Team. They met as well with the individual project leaders along the way including Pat Welsh of Garden Science Trust and Karen Beck of the Escape Project.
Special mentions must go to the residents of Suffield Court who take pride in tending their communal garden, successfully producing a paradise, and Garden Science Trust for their work towards developing a bio-diverse garden and work with the community including their ‘Blooming Roadshow’ which they have taken to local schools, nurseries and the Paddocks Care Home; The judges showed a particular admiration for these projects and they are among the nominations for Special Awards this year.
The Awards ceremony will be held on the 14th September 2017 at the Ocean Rooms in Gorleston-on-Sea, where we will find out how we compare with the rest of East Anglia.
